American Gothic is a painting by Grant Wood from 1930. Portraying a pitchfork-holding farmer and a woman in front of a house of Carpenter Gothic style, it is one of the most familiar and parodied images in 20th century American art. Parodies of the image have been numerous for generations, appearing in postcards, magazines, cartoon, advertisements, and television shows. In "An American Classic," the Dum Dum Drum Man, wielding a large pop, stands in the place of the farmer.
The Mona Lisa is a 16th century painting by Leonardo da Vinci and now hangs in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The painting is a half-length portrait and depicts a woman whose expression is often described as enigmatic. Because of its popularity, many artists created modifications and caricatures, including Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol. In the "World's Most Famous Smile!", Mona Lisa dreams of the Drum Man while holding Dum Dum Pops' signature Mystery Flavor™.
