Since 1953 many flavors have come and gone from our Dum Dums flavor assortment. Learn more about the history of your favorite flavors.
1953 |
Dum Dums brand was acquired and there were seven original flavors: Lemon, Lime, Orange, Coconut-Pineapple, Cherry, Grape and Butterscotch. Root Beer was added as an eighth flavor. |
1954 |
Strawberry was added as ninth flavor. |
1955 |
Chocolate was added as tenth flavor. |
1960 |
Banana was added to the flavor assortment and replaced Chocolate. |
1961 |
Raspberry was added and Root Beer was dropped. |
1966 |
Chocolate returned to the assortment and replaced Banana. The flavor mis was: Lemon, Coconut-Pineapple, Butterscotch, Lime, Strawberry, Grape, Chocolate, Orange, Cherry, and Raspberry. |
1968 |
Black Cherry, Cream Soda and Root Beer were added and Raspberry was dropped. |
1970 |
Pineapple was added and Black Cherry and Coconut Pineapple were dropped. |
1975 |
Raspberry replaced Chocolate in the flavor assortment. |
1982 |
Watermelon was added and Raspberry was dropped. |
1987 |
Peach was added. |
1991 |
Sour Apple is introduced and replaced Lime in the flavor mix. |
1995 |
Blu Raspberry replaces Raspberry. |
2000 |
Lemon, Orange and Sour Apple were removed and were replaced by Orange Cream, Fruit Punch and Buttered Popcorn. The assortment is: Blu Raspberry, Butterscotch, Cherry, Cream Soda, Grape, Peach, Root Beer, Strawberry, Watermelon, Buttered Popcorn, Fruit Punch, Orange Cream and the Mystery Flavor™. |
2001 |
Sour Apple returns and replaces Buttered Popcorn. |
2002 |
Chocolate, Bubble Gum, and Cotton Candy replaced Orange Cream, Fruit Punch and Peach. |
2005 |
Dum Dums expand to 16 flavors! Cherry Cola and Pink Lemonade are introduced and to celebrate our 100th anniversary Banana and Coconut-Pineapple make a return to the mix. |
2008 |
Mango and Tangerine are added to the assortment. Ashlynn Cocnut - the flavor chosen by our Pop Star 2007 Grand Prize Winner (Ashlynn from NC). Chocolate, Banana and Coconut-Pineapple are dropped. |
2009 |
New flavors Strawberry Shortcake and Banana Split are added and replace Cherry Cola and Pink Lemonade. |
2010 |
Savannah Blueberry-the flavor chosen by our Pop Star 2009 Grand Prize Winner replaces Ashlynn Coconut. |
2011 |
Orange is added and Tangerine is dropped. Three new Mystery Mania™ flavors replaced Banana Split, Strawberry Shortcake and Mango in mid-2011. Strawberry Shortcake and Banana Split are later dropped and replaced by Fruit Punch and Dulce de Leche. |
2013 |
Mango and Dulce de Leche are dropped and replaced by Peach-Mango and Raspberry Lemonade which were chosen by fans on during our Flavor Mash-Up promotion. |
2014 |
Hawaiian Punch™ Fruit Juicy Red™ and Hawaiian Punch™ Polar Blast were added as limited edition flavors and replaced Cotton Candy and Fruit Punch. |
2015 |
Raspberry Lemonade is dropped and Lemon-Lime was added to the mix. Bacon, Pizza and Buttered Popcorn became available for a limited time Mystery Mania promotion. |
2016 |
Blueberry, Fruit Punch and Strawberry are removed and Banana Split, Strawberry Milkshake and S'mores enter the mix for SummerTime Favorites promotion. |
2017 |
Blueberry is replaced with Pineapple in our original flavor assortment. |
