Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse... except for these Christmas crafts for kids. These little mice are easy to make and fun to decorate. You can decide where to place these easy Christmas crafts for kids, but we recommend making them as toys or turning them into easy Christmas ornament crafts.

Candy Cane Mice

How to make it

  1. For the large mouse, take your main color of felt and cut a 6" by 3.5" wide-tear drop shape. (If you want to make a smaller mouse, cut all measurements in half.)
  2. Measure two inches from the tip of the nose towards the middle of the tear drop shape, mark with a pencil on the under-side. From that point, place a ruler and measure in from each side one inch. On each side, make a one inch slit with your scissors.
  3. Next, we will be making the ears. Cut a 5" by 2" strip of felt in a complimentary color. Round the edges and fold in half to make easy to insert. Take the folded piece and insert into one of the slits we previously made. Pull from the other slit until even on both sides. At this point, it should begin looking like a mouse.
  4. Next, cut white circles out of paper for the eyes, and then draw the pupils onto the paper. Take glue and glue into place. After the eyes are placed, take your nose of choice (button, pom-pom or paper) and glue onto the tip of the mouse.
  5. Take a candy cane, with the straight end first, and slide into the pocket made on the under-side of the mouse. Turn back over and your mouse is now complete with a tasty, candy cane tail!
