Senator Sherrod Brown Visits Spangler Candy

BRYAN, OH - U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) visited the Spangler Candy factory in Bryan today to tour the facility and meet with workers at the plant.

Spangler Candy makes a variety of candies, including Dum-Dum Pops, Circus Peanuts, Saf-T-Pops, and candy canes. Spangler Candy employs approximately 400 at its Bryan facility, and last month, the company announced a new $5 million investment in the plant to expand the production of Dum-Dum Pops.

"Spangler Candy is an Ohio-grown company that not only makes treats for children, but plays an important role in the livelihood of hundreds of Ohioans," Brown said. "Throughout the years, Spangler has stayed right here in Bryan, where it first put down roots more than a century ago. Now, with a new $5 million investment in this facility, Spangler will continue to grow and put more Ohioans back to work."

Brown's visit to Bryan is part of his "Made in Ohio Tour," which kicked off in August. With the top priority of creating Ohio jobs, Brown is fighting for a multi-pronged effort to promote economic development - from working to position Ohio as the Silicon Valley of Clean Energy Manufacturing, to establishing the state as a hub for high-growth industries.
