Spangler Original Handcrafted Chocolates make their return. After being discontinued in 2006, Spangler Candy has teamed up with Stella Leona to help bring back these memorable chocolate clusters.
Over a century ago, our company's founding generation - Arthur, Ernest and Omar Spangler offered their first chocolate items. Original handcrafted chocolate items were a cornerstone of the company's growth through the 1930's. The company moved toward mass production of chocolates in the 1940's. In 1953 we purchased Dum Dums and in 1954 we purchased candy canes. The clear focus became hard candies. Today, Spangler Candy Company is one of the world's largest manufacturers of both lollipops and candy canes.
In 2006 chocolate was discontinued to remove peanuts from the factory eliminating an allergen issue for the other products. Between 2006 and 2011 our formula was licensed to a small chocolate manufacturer allowing the continuation of "Spangler Chocolates". However, that effort was not commercially successful.
We are proud to partner with Stella Leona Artisan Chocolates in re-creating the Spangler Chocolates. Stella Leona chocolatier, Nancy Bontrager, shares our family values and basic beliefs. Located in Pettisville, Ohio, they use only the finest ingredients and are dedicated to excellence and attention-to-detail.
Our mutual goal was to spare no expense to exactly duplicate the original Spangler Chocolates experience in all aspects of these exclusive and limited products.
Congratulations to Paul, retiring from Spangler Candy after 33 years. Sage advice from this accomplished engineer: “The ‘impossible’ just takes a little longer to design, plan, and execute!” #thanksPaul
