Spangler Welcomes New President

Dean Spangler joins firm October 1, 1996

10/18/96 -- The Board of Directors of Spangler Candy has announced a reorganization of the company's senior management. C. Gregory Spangler has been elected Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Dean L. Spangler has been elected as President.

Greg began his career with Spangler Candy Company in 1969 as Assistant Treasurer and has been President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors since 1981. Prior to joining Spangler, Greg was a staff accountant with Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte & Touche), Dayton, Ohio. Greg is the son of Charles B. and the late Martha Spangler. Charles is a former Vice President of Spangler Candy Company retiring in 1976.

Dean L. Spangler joins the company following a successful career including the past ten years as President of Boren Brick, Pleasant Garden, North Carolina. Boren is one of the largest manufacturers of clay brick in the Carolinas. Prior to that, Dean was President and CEO of U.S. Tubular of Dalton, Ohio. Dean is a 1970 graduate of Michigan State University. Dean served on the Spangler Candy Company Board of Directors from 1976 until 1994. He is the son of Ernestine Spangler and the late Harlan G. Spangler. Harlan (Bun) Spangler was President of Spangler Candy   Company from 1968 until 1976.
