Alliance Exhibits for First Time at FMI Show
Chicago, IL March 2001
The Candy Alliance LLC will exhibit for the first time at the Food Marketing Institute Show in Chicago on May 6-8, 2001. The Candy Alliance LLC is a strategic Alliance among five confectionery companies.
It was formed in November, 1999 to enhance competition within the confectionery
industry by increasing placement and distribution of products, realizing efficiencies in production and offering consumers greater choices and better value.
Alliance members include:
American Licorice Company www.americanlicorice.com
Red Vines and Sour Punch brands
Ferrara Pan Candy Co., Inc. www.ferrarapan.com
Lemonhead, Red Hots, Atomic FireBall, and Black Forest
Goetze's Candy Co., Inc. www.goetzecandy.com
Goetze's Caramel Creams and Cow Tales
New England Confectionery Company (NECCO) www.necco.com
Necco Wafers, Clark Bar, Haviland Thin Mints and Mary Janes
Spangler Candy Company www.spanglercandy.com
Dum Dum Pops, Saf-T-Pops, Astro Pops and Circus Peanuts
Consolidations within the food industry and confectionery category demonstrate the need for organizations like the Alliance to help companies and brands remain competitive. Maintaining competition within the confectionery category with a vast array of brands and companies actively marketing these brands best serves retailers and consumers by offering them greater choices and better value. It also keeps consumers interested in purchasing within the category.
Alliance members have launched line extensions involving cross branding. Spangler Candy Company has launched lollipops with Ferrara Pan's Atomic Fireball and Lemonhead brands. Our objective in 2001 is to focus on high potential initiatives that will expand our distribution at retail and support our individual company marketing programs.
