REFRIGERATION/UTILITIES TECHNICIAN

Plans and performs required work and repairs to plant air conditioning systems, HVAC controls and other associated A/C and refrigeration related equipment.  Plans and performs required insulation work and repairs.  EPA Universal (Type I, II and III)  Refrigeration certificate required.

May advance to refrigeration Grade 1 (L/G13) without bidding by holding the L/G 12 position for a minimum of 36 months and obtaining either a Pipefitter’s certification (Ohio Braising Certification - Pipe) or a Steam Systems certification (Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License) and demonstrating the ability to do either of these jobs.

May advance to Refrigeration Grade 2 (L/G 14) without bidding by holding the Grade 1 (L/G 13) position for a minimum of 24 months and obtaining the certifications for both Pipefitter and Steam Systems Technician and demonstrating the ability to perform all three (3) Utilities Technician positions.

Job Functions: Diagnoses and remedies equipment operating difficulties, makes adjustments, tears down, repairs and replaces defective parts, valves, relays, controls, etc., and reassembles to prior operating condition.

Ability to troubleshoot single and three phase industrial motors, VFDs, electrical distribution and protection circuits up to 480VAC.

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.

Maintains correct chemical levels in water towers.  Feeds chemical into towers according to instructions and analysis.  As necessary, cleans and makes repairs on chemical feed and control equipment.

Installs equipment such as air conditioning units, compressors, condensers, pumps, etc. with assistance as necessary.

Initiates action to secure A/C and refrigeration equipment in case of power or equipment failures.  Reactivates equipment following repairs or restoration of electrical power.

Installs all necessary water, air, and refrigerant gas tubing and piping as required for A/C and refrigeration operations.  Installs and repairs miscellaneous piping as required.  Insulates piping, duct work, equipment, etc. as necessary

Maintains and repairs all air handlers, A/C and refrigeration equipment.  Requires changing air filters, cleaning coils and cooling towers.

Follows all Spangler Candy safety/sanitation policies and procedures.

Supports the organization’s commitment to ensure that our food safety and quality plans conform to all regulatory requirements and with food quality and safety requirements of our customers and report any problems or potential problems observed concerning food safety and quality to Supervision immediately


TRAINING COORDINATOR

The Training Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing company–wide training programs. Develop a structured ongoing training program to ensure continuity and conformity in the training process. Support the development, implementation and sustainment of training programs. Formulate training policies, programs for production processes, business systems and changes in methods or procedures. Observe and document processes to create work instructions and procedures. Create methods to record, communicate, processes and evaluate effective training techniques. Coordinates the documentation and tracking of completed training.

Position Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field.  Experience in instruction or training. Knowledge in instructional design and training methodologies. Ideal candidate will possess data gathering, analysis, presentation and facilitation skills.   Strong written and verbal communication skills. Possess a positive; team oriented attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. Strong PC skills, including expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must be able to work flex time in order to cover all three shifts.


PROCESS MECHANICS - MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT 

Repairs, rebuilds and troubleshoots process equipment on the production floor and throughout the plant.  Responsible for maintenance and adjustment of equipment to provide a quality product at an efficient, productive level.  Works closely with the production process striving to improve quality and efficiency.

Troubleshoots process and related machinery breakdowns on the production floor and throughout the plant to determine repair requirements.

Performs simple electrical checks, disassembles equipment, makes repairs by replacing or fabricating needed parts or mechanisms; reassembles equipment and restores to proper operation.

Services all types of packaging and auxiliary equipment related to process machinery such as box makers, overwraps, labelers, printers, conveyors, air-operated devices, robots, etc., that are synchronized with the process.  Fits, adjusts and properly times these devices.

Machines parts, solders, brazes and welds; installs piping, tubing and sheet metal, fabricating as needed.

Oils and greases machinery and performs daily preventative maintenance.

Instructs and assists production personnel in proper operation of equipment; ensures that safety devices are in place and operating properly.

Studies the production process constantly taking corrective action necessary to ensure an efficient, high quality product line.

Follows all Spangler Candy safety/sanitation policies and procedures.

Keeps work area clean and orderly including areas throughout the plant and facilities where work is performed.

Assists in training new process mechanics.Requisitions parts as needed.

Assists the Electrician with process repairs such as motor changes, etc.Performs and completes other work as assigned by supervisor.

 Good vision, color vision, hearing, speaking and finger dexterity skills as well as ability to perform close work.  Ability to work under time pressure, work rapidly for long periods, sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb, kneel, reach, push, pull, use keyboard, lift and/or carry up to approximately 50 lbs.

Ability to read, write, follow instructions, perform mathematical calculations and draw conclusions from visual and/or physical inspection of equipment or materials.  Minimum of 1 to 2 years industrial maintenance experience preferably in a production process atmosphere.  Must be able to read schematic diagrams, manuals, parts lists and detailed instructions.  Troubleshooting requires mechanical aptitude and some imagination.  Accepts training and maintains skills necessary to meet new and changing technology.

 Various hand and power tools, assorted wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, wire strippers, wire cutters, hammers, utility knives, tape measure, lathes, mills, welders, soldering equipment, computer and required PPE.

 Exposed to heat, dust, dirt, fumes, chemicals, dampness, vibrations, noise and cramped areas.  Occasionally exposed to burns, cuts, falls, pinch points, electrical shock, sprains and strains.


CANDY PACKERS - PRODUCTION

Works individually or in a group along a conveyor, bagger operation or table to sort, inspect and package finished products. Assembles, folds and tapes cartons, inserts or boxes into which product is to be placed.

Bags or boxes product by hand, sort’s product that is obviously broken or imperfect and places in proper scrap container. Inspects candy visually to ensure proper color and wrap is maintained.

Stacks cartons of packaged candy on skid in prescribed order and dates and labels cartons when necessary.Cleans floors including white lines, walls, windows, partitions, sinks and doors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, washing, waxing and dusting throughout the facility.

Picks up string, sticks, slip sheets, pallets, cardboard and other debris by hand (including outside). Cleans manufacturing areas as directed including various production accessories by hand.

Uses container washer to clean utensils, rework containers, and other accessories.
